well if I told you me new year's resolution to play at least a round of golf in a year, and I only managed fifteen holes over the last five years ....

ah but that's proper golf, mate ....

I do remember playing on the west coast of Ireland [long, long time ago] in the lashing rain [horizontal, no it rained upwards into your visor], really challenging stuff ....

strictly a fair weather golfer mesel. played regular recently (once a week) and have seen a marked improvement. playing slaley hall this wednesday(gratis ), priestman course which hosts a a seniors tour event. played there last week and had a shocker, water hazards had a magnet on for my ball!

as for handicap i'm definitely in the higher echelons (28ish), can't see me ever joining a club to get an official one, again fair weather only and bambinos don't really help the situation, it's about £45 to get one through English Golf Union

I forgot about all the other boards aside from the Newcastle one haha!! Gibbbbo's back.. im struggling at the moment.. playing off 4.. just getting off to some awful starts and fighting to keep the scores under 80

But i have also just turned 18, hence i have started hitting the piss and the clubs so naturally the golf goes downhill for a little while haha

Leazes.. last time i was in Newcastle i played Slaleys hunting course (i think its called).. how good is that place!! last time i was in England however was at the tender age of 13.. and that day i had about 112 haha

Well Storm isn't shirking .... he lost two strokes in the first three, but got them both back with birdies, the last on the 6th, back to five under. Good on yer Graeme.

The leaderboard is interesting. 10 Europeans, 4 Australians, 2 South Africans in the top 20, and only 3 Americans. Perhaps reinforces my suspicions about the current trends in world golf ....

You're right. Interesting his commets about fitness etc., I am inclined to believe him. I noticed in both opens this year, his putting was still red hot, but his wayward driving cost him. I suspected when he got that right he would resume his dominant position, as so it proved.

Els back to something like his best, this time it seems a more sustained series of better performances, but can he close the gap on Tiger?

As usual the results make a mockery of my comments - Gibbo I'm sure it didn't pass your notice of a clutch strong Aussie performances in this competition, hunting in packs again.

Good effort from Storm, would be nice to see him kick on to higher form. Justin Rose again finishes high up the leaderboard, but in general the Europeans flattered to deceive and fizzled out. Perhaps the heat was too much .... they should check into Tiger's gym.

yea the aussies never win much but they r alrite.. scott is overrated and crap.. i think rose will win a major one day

I think they both will. I think I rate Adam Scott higher that you do [lovely swing], but think Oglvie [who has won one] overrated.

Paul Casey will probably win as well, and Donald .... maybe [he needs to rediscover his earlier form this year]. Casey and Rose the pick of the Europeans in the majors this year.

not forgetting Padraig of course, and Sergio

Paddy will never win a masters or a pga but every us and british open he is a shout... he is 1 tough cookie..'

Sergio is much like Adam Scott.. un-realised potential.. incredible ball strikers and shocking putters.. Scott will never win a major and neither will Serg

The only major i could see Casey winning is the Masters.. Donald the US open..

However.. Geoff Ogilvy is absolute class.. always puts in good showings at the majors and only hits it a tiny bit worse than Scott and has a far better short game... You always see Ogilvys name up there in the big events

Watch out for Michael Sim and Jason Day from Australia.. Simmy has had an interrupted first season on tour because of injury, back problems but he worked hard to fix it up and has every attribute to win Majors.. and Jason Day is like 19 and taking the Nationwide tour by storm

Oh and myself.. look out haha

I havent played in 11 days, my longest break by 9 days in about 3 years lol... im havin a month off... heavy work at the gym!!

the john daly routine doesnt work for me as whenever i go 2 the casino i lose money and get pissed off and when i get on the bubbly i really dislike the next mornings feeling

some examples:
hole 1. tee shot sliced OB, reload and topped it about 50 yds, good connection next shot dodgy bounce into ditch, drop out, decent 4 iron short of green, pitched on, 3 putt for a 5 over par 10 <commitsuicidesmilie>


hole 14. pulled 7 iron off the tee, chipping over a bunker to get at the flag, straight into the bunker, mint shot out of the bunker to about 4 feet, 2 putts for a 5

hole 15. pulled 7 iron off the tee into rough, ball sitting down, another 3 to get on the green, single putt for a 5.

Last Saturday in the competition I hit 1 feckin gairway out of the whole 18.1!!!.My driving was all over the place and because of that I could never get a decent score in any hole.

more punishment looms tomorrow. change of driver though, gonna give it a whack down the range tonight. <eternaloptimistsmilie>

lol thats the way i play at the moment... my ball striking is crap hitting very few fairways and struggling 2 hit enough greens 2 put a decent score on the board

but all of a sudden my putting is thaaaaat good... bush bush bush putt, par haha

I might just realise my ambition of getting a round in this year - I've arranged to play on Little Hay Golf Complex, Bovingdon .... public course but very nice, > 6,500 yds off the blue so I'll let you know how I get on ....

who am I kidding? if I break 200 I'll be lucky ....

I had a round of 92,which is ok considering my driving was poor again altho I hit about 6 fairways out of 18 instead of only hitting 1 out of 18 las time

how can u hit a fairway on a par 3? lol

14 fairways are available for hitting (provided there are 4 par 3's)
