And Murray breaks Nadal's first service game after the injury break... 2-0 in the third, and Nadal looks like he's short of pace. Just pulled out of playing a shot, it's not looking good for him.

Murray takes the first set. Playing well too...
Currently 5-1 in the tie-break for the second. Brilliant match.

He's won that next point, so 6-1 to Murray and he has five set points.

This is great tennis.

Murray looks so up for it.
Well, it' like they're saying on the tv Dorty, he looks calm but focused. Whenever Nadal makes a bit of a charge, he doesn't panic, just ups his game too.

Do I take it from the number of saltires on show that Andy Murray is Scottish and not British? dry.gif laugh.gif
Well, the English can't take a joke and have gone in a sulk, so they aren't gonna cheer for him.

Experts called this years ago. Nadal will never have as long or successful career as some of the greats because of the way he plays will result in too much for his body, despite him being inbelieveably talented. He had his first serious injury of his career last year, hasn't got back to anywhere near his best, and looks like it has come back.

I'm gonna support him until an English player comes along and deposes him as British number one. May have to wait a while though laugh.gif

Three nil up in the third set. Britain's Andy Murray on course for the semi-finals biggrin.gif

Only a monumental recovery can save Nadal now.

All over.

Nadal throws in the towel. Murray wins by default, which is a bit unfortunate for him - let's not forget that he outplayed Nadal for two sets where Nadal was unaffected by any injury, playing superbly.

There's been a lot said about Nadal's injury problems. He plays with such intensity that it was always a possibility that he'd have recurring injuries. I think we can also ask questions about how early he started playing professional tennis.

Shame it had to end this way, Murray was playing very good tennis.

As for Rafa, he must place so much pressure on his joints the way he twists and turns. I imagine he must have big problems with his knees.

Gutted to have missed the match (had to work this morning), saw some ot the isner match though, and murray looks on top form, only roger can stop him.

So, Federer comes through in style after a shaky start against Davydenko. Bit difficult to tell whether Federer was brilliant or Davydenko just wilted under the pressure, but whatever the case, Federer is still odds-on favourite for the tournament.

Djokovic currently having a testing first set against Tsonga, looks like an interesting match. It's gone to a tie-break, Djokovic was a break up. Still can't see past Federer from his semi-final though, whether he's playing Djokovic or Tsonga.

Won't be able to see Murray's semi-final, I'm teaching tomorrow morning.

Tsonga takes the first set, tense tie-break ending 10-8. He's playing an interesting style, quite a lot of serve-volleying, and coming into the net fairly often. Aggressive style which seems to be working.

Murray 2-1 up but not convincing.

Murray wins the last set 6-2 and is in the final!

Saw a tiny bit this morning, Murray getting broken at 2-2 in the first set. He didn't quite look up to speed, though I wasn't that concerned at the time. Interestingly, John Lloyd said that he thought Murray would lose one set, the first, but would go through to the final.
Whitley Mag
WOW, come on Andy!!

Great news for British tennis.

Yeah, but the one time they've met in Grand Slams, Federer walloped him. Bit different this time, Murray has had a pretty relaxed time getting through to the final, so he will be fresh. Federer hasn't been pushed too hard either (assuming he beats Tsonga, of course), but they've both had a slight challenge in losing the first set - Murray lost his first today to Cilic, Federer lost his first set 6-2 to Davydenko.

I think Murray has a good chance, although Federer has to be favourite, he has so much experience of grand slam finals.

Of course, if Tsonga wins tomorrow morning then I'm sure Murray will be all too happy to change his game plan.

I think Murray will take heart from the fact that Federer lost to Del Potro in the US Open final.

should be a cracker, both players on top form. federer to egde it in 5 sets (if he gets there). Not sure who to support, I love both players, I think I'd rather murray win wimbledon

Murray v Federer in the final on Sunday after the Swiss master demolished Tsonga inside an hour and a hour. As much as Roger played well, the Frenchman was pants, at times struggling to hit the ball over the net. And that doesn't help laugh.gif

Aye, it should be a super final.

Also good luck to Laura Robson in the girls final tomorrow, she plays the unseeded Czech Karolina Pliskova.

That break seems to have fired Murray up a bit. He needs to be fired up as well, Federer has been awesome so far.

Be interesting if Murray manages to win this set. I think Federer will step up a gear again, but you never know. Whenever he loses a grand slam final, it always seems to be a 5-setter...

Well, Murray had more than enough chances to win the third set but couldn't take them. A break up and serving for the match and then he broke Fed early in the tie-break.

It wasn't to be. Fed wins again....i guess Murray is a scot after all biggrin.gif

unlucky, I had to when it was 3-3 in the first set and murray looked on top, but I always expected Fed to step it up, I'm glad federer has proved the people wrong who said he would never win a grand slam again, and now I can support murray in wimbledon!

to show how bad we are we now face a playoff against turkey (who lost to ireland?!!?) to stop us from going into the fourth and lowest tier of davis cup tennis. don't understand why jamie murray doesn't make the doubles team anymore though, he's alot better than these current jokers.

The fact we are English and we have to rely on someone from Scotland says it all. Though Heather Watson and Laura Robson both look promising prospects.
