I'd love to see him win it, whether he be quarter Geordie, English, Scottish or British biggrin.gif

He is actually a good player and has grown up a lot in the past twelve months. Come on Andy!

I'd like to see him win it as well but seeing Federer win it would also be nice. He's boring and miserable but in some ways I do quite like him because he plays with a lot of passion and determination. You can see he takes his tennis performance extremely seriously and that's why he's in the position he is now and why he should only get better.
Copy Nooker
Anybody who had to give so many interviews and answer so many stupid questions would come across as a wanka.
I'm sure he would rather just get on with the tennis but nowadays the interviews are as much a part of the job as the game - boring really.

He is Scottish, therefore i don't want him to win.

If any Englishman supports him, its no different to a Newcastle fan wanting a mackem to do well.

Plus, he is a cock.

He identifies himself as Scottish but British also. Nothing wrong with that - I'm guessing you consider yourself first and foremost English judging by your comments? As I've said, I'm not a fan of his personality and his comments about supporting anyone but England at the World Cup in 2006 were stupid, but they're normally taken out of context.

I don't know a lot about tennis (not a big fan tbh), but as far as I know Scotland an England have never had a fierce tennis rivalry, whereas Newcastle Utd and Sunderland have.

How so?

He may be Scottish (and I certainly have no problem with that) but he also represents Great Britain in the Davis Cup therefore most British tennis fans will want to support him at Wimbledon. Similarly, in rugby union, English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish players are picked to represent the British and Irish Lions and many consider this to be the highlight of their careers.

And the 'England' cricket team over the last decade has had people from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, Denmark, Papua New Guinea etc playing for them. From what I know these countries aren't England but if the players are representing England then I'll support them.

I'll support Murray even if there's far more amiable tennis players at that, because he's representing Great Britain at the end of the day.

That just shows that cricket is England's way of boasting about how many countries they once colonised. tongue.gif
