With the relegation places fixed, the spotlight is now turned on which team will take 10th spot and claim 'top-half' bragging rights.
It's neck and neck between Fulham, Stoke and Rovers with Sunderland also in contention.
It doesn't look good for Rovers as they've played one game more than their rivals and have a worse goal difference.
However Fulham have their UEFA ties coming up while Stoke have a tough run-in with away fixtures against Chelsea & ManU.
So there's still everything to play for with the title 'Best Of The Worst' still up for grabs!

Sunderland have all but confirmed Burnleys relegation last week, Hulls relegation this week and could have a big say in the PL title with a home game against Man U to come next. Wolves away to close the season out.

The top 10 spot will be difficult to hold on to but wherever we finish it won't be too bad considering we did not win for 14 games and excitable mags believed we might get relegated.

Anyone else think its bollocks that Man City should even be allowed the opportunity to get a goalkeeper in? The only time that should even possibly apply is when the club has NO fit goalkeeper, but it's not the rest of the league's fault that they didn't bring in suitable cover for Given in the first place, in Taylor's absence. As a Championship side, we had Harper, Krul, Soderberg and Forster who I would have been happy enough with. Citeh were 'allowed' to spend £150m on the likes of Adebayor, Tevez, etc., and should not be given a get-out clause for managerial fuck ups.

Football just does not get it.

Thing is other teams have been allowed to do it before so I suppose they couldnt turn around and not let Citeh do it this time.

Saying that though I dont agree with it and I think the rules need to be changed.

They have 9 keepers on their books and every team generally must have at least 4 or 5 - not sure why experience comes into the equation. You wouldnt be allowed to get an experienced loan in for another position outside the window so not really sure why a keeper is that different.

The powers that be are always banging on about young players not getting a chance - surely this is a scenario where a young player should be getting a chance and would have to if they were not allowed to bring someone else in.

I hope Sunderland beat Man U today and spare Chelsea having to beat Wigan at Stamford Bridge next week for the title.

Big game at Ewood tonight.
What am I talking about?
Good question, after all Arsenal are sure of a CL place and have no chance of getting 2nd spot, so basically have nothing to play for.
Meanwhile Rovers are safe from relegation and have no chance of getting into Europe.
But take a look at the table and notice the congestion in the middle.
With a win tonight Rovers would jump 3 places, which would be worth more that 2 million quid.
For a small club like Blackburn that is a big deal, so expect lots of commitment from Big Sam's boys.
It'll certainly be no walk in the park for Wenger's kids!

Pretty much the response I expected - im not talking about Newcastle here though mate, im talking about a team that has been in the Premier League for quite a while, with some decent players and a decent budget thinking that finishing around 10th in the league every year is some kind of massive achievement.

Personally I think its pretty pathetic and one of the reasons why im not so sure the English league is as good as it was in comparison to Spain etc - just too many teams content with mediocrity.

Newcastle have admitedly been shite for the last 5 or 6 years (40 odd if we are talking trophies) but at least we generally go into seasons looking to try and win things - doesnt always work but personally I dont think I could watch a team with such a neagative mentality year after year.

The problem is that we haven't got a decent budget.
We do have decent players, but we used to have more-than-decent players which we've had to sell just to keep our heads above water: Bellamy, Neill, Bentley, Warnock, Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Friedel all gone.
It's only been because Hughes and now Allardyce have been canny in the transfer market, picking up 'decent' players at bargain prices, that we've been able to survive.
What you call lack of ambition I would call realism - at the start of this season Sam was talking about survival first and foremost and that's what he gave us.
But it wasn't just that - we did get to the League Cup semis, and most importantly, did the double over Burnley!
On the one hand you lot put us down as being a small club with lousy attendances, while on the other you complain that we aren't fighting it out with Barca for the Champions League!
