Is the layout like Football Manager Live? If so, it doesn't take long to get used to and after a week or so it is better than the layout of 2009.
Dissapointment is that there is still no stadium development, which they did manage to do in FML, i thought it was guaranteed to be in this latest version.

They've changed that apparently, got a lot of complaints about it, so they've made the whole thing run quicker and prevent the freezing. Not got it yet though, so don't hold me to that. Can't afford it at the moment and PES is out in a few days too, not happy.

Fair enough if they say that, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Was €40 down the drain for me last year. Shame, because it was good when it did work.

Just got it on Friday and got a game going with Newcastle. Nine games in I've won 6, drawn 2, lost 1 and I'm in second place.
I was stopped from making transfers (Despite only having 300k to spend) because of takeover talks and the club's just been taken over by a consortium led by an Italian businessman who wanted to hire Alan Shearer as manager but he's told me I'll get time to prove myself!

From what I've played of it I would reccomend it. The only problems I have with it are down to my computer. It's been running so slow so watching the 3D match engine becomes pointless due to the amount of lag makig it impossible to pick anything out. I think the size of FM (Around 2000MB) may have had some sort of influence as well because the whole computer's only become slow once I started.
I didn't get Football Manager 2009 because I had 2007 & 2008 and they were very similar but thought it might be more interesting starting with Newcastle in the Championship and I have enjoyed it so far.
Still don't play Shola mind

Lovenkrands (Top scorer- 9 goals in 11 games overall) and Ranger/Carroll do it for me!

You on XP mate? I had 09 on XP and found it really slow and didn't use the 3d engine as it made it even slower, I was told that XP is the problem and that it goes quicker on Vista. Also downloaded 2010 on XP and it was still slow, but have recently got a new computer with Vista and so installed it onto that and it goes much quicker.
ToonTomH
Nov 11 2009, 11:07 PM
Yeah I am using XP, could be worth trying installing it on my brother's computer and see if it works better because he has Vista, but even then I'm not exactly going to just go into his room when I want to play. Not really worth paying a great deal for Vista either nevermind just for a game, but also just in the hope that it helps.

Cheers for the info mate, never been too fussed about the 3D stuff anyway im more old school so that doesnt bother me
Have to say the only thing stopping me getting it is worries about my PC not being good enough. I have Vista but it was orniginally an XP machine so the spec isnt great. Dont think ill have the RAM or Processor power to run it effectively.
May be a good excuse to buy a new computer
ToonTomH
Nov 12 2009, 05:19 PM
I don't think my computer's the best either, especially for a game of this size, but it still runs fine, a bit laggy when running through the game (Not just in matches) every now and then but nothing the causes major problems.
I'm not that bothered about 3D either, if it worked well for me I would use it, but watching the dots is alright.

Finally started my Newcastle game, got abusive at the fact Jonas was AML only so I just changed his positions to each wing, sorted.
Sold Smith for 2.1mil to Sunderland, released Butt on a free. Offered Barton a lowered contract by 10K and he accepted so I got a load of freedom with excess money and with some adjustments to the budget I have signed:
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jam...pg?t=1258645707All the expensive signings (over 1mil) are done over 48 months, so cost nothing as of now. Top of the league, 7 wins and 3 draws. Top scorers are Edixon Perea & Ilan with 6 each.
Geremi refuses to leave, but I keep offering mutual termination. He will be gone.
Seems I hit the jackpot with regards to youth, Vuckic, Kadar, Krul and Aaron Spear are so highly rated it's amazing. Set up for the next 10 game years if I reach that far.
Formation:
Krul
R.Taylor Colo S. Taylor Enrique
Jonas Barton Nolan S. Poulsen
Perea Ilan
Captain Taylor, alternate some of the youth in every few games.
Highly recommend Simon Poulsen and Jakob Poulsen. Top class wingers.

Last minute goals are generally down to squad fitness, try making use (or better use) of your substitutes around the 65-70 minute mark.

I've started a new game with Newcastle using the 10.3 database and going for 4-2-4 formation.
The season started with me only being given £1.5m to spend, however, all of our January signings are there already, so there wasn't really anything else that needed adding.
Formation looks a little something like this
---------------1-----------------
-2-------5----------6--------3-
---------------------------------
-----------4--------------------
------------------8--------------
---------------------------------
--7-------------------------11--
----------9---------10----------
1 - Harper, picks himself still for me, Krul is getting the odd game including the 2 Coca Cola cup games i played.
2 - Simpson
3 - Enrique, although sadly he has been picking up niggling injurys, Kadar has filled in when he hasnt been away on U20 duty.
5 - Collocini, set as a ball playing centre back.
6 - Taylor or Williamson, can't really pick between the 2, Williamson has bagged a couple of headed goals too. Both are the good in the air and compliment Collocini
4 - Signed Chris Basham on a season long loan from Bolton, Smith is out of position playing just infront of the defence, he is a ball winning midfielder and young, impressed in the first few months.
8 - Barton, Offers a little creativity although has struggled with fitness and normally only lasts 60 minutes a game, replaced by Nolan when required who slots in nicely as an attacking midfielder
7 - Routledge, one of the 2 players of the season so far, outstanding, scores goals too
11 - Jonas, the other of the 2 players of the season, worried about him becoming unhappy though, bigger clubs are sniffing and with me losing £2m a month, he might be sold without my consent.
9 - Maicon, on loan from the Mancs for 3 months, poor start with 0 goals in his first 4 games, came off the bench away to Cardiff though at half time and score 4 goals, hasn't stopped scoring since.
10 - Carrol, Shola, Lovenkrands, all equally effective, Shola seems to be slightly better than the other 2, although Lovenkrands offers a nice bit of pace.
Played up to the end of October in the first season, in the league i've won 8 drawn 3 lost 0 and am 2nd behind Sheff Utd, with Bristol City level with me. Got knocked out of the cup after drawing 0-0 at West Ham, Nolan and Shola missed penalties, they scored all 5.
The biggest hope is that Ashley sells the club assuming i get promoted so that i have at least a little money to spend on players, failing that, it will be a case of scrounging loans and free transfers to try to ensure survival.
Football Manager wins!
GreekGeordie.

I'm a little bored so why not do a little update on my team, I have downloaded a patch off si community which makes Newcastle pretty much up to date.
Starting 11 plus subs.
Transfers made, Bought players
Fixtures and Results
Table
Andy has been banging them in got himself a hatrick vs west ham so far has 8 goals in 6.
Barton is in blistering form atm, Average rating of 7.77 and has been holding the midfield together.
Smith despite his poor ratings has been doing a solid job, In a gartuso type role.
I retrained djalo to being a right midfield which it seemed to suit him well, He has become "Natural" at that position in no time(I think its a bug), he has so far been the best signing of the season you can pick him up for around 600.000 pounds at the start of the season and is a cracking striker as well as a top right midfielder.
I didn't really want to sell jonas but the offer was to good to turn down, And i think i have made the right decision with djalo coming in and performing really well, Also gave me some money as well.
Man utd up next, Good test i hope we can scarp at least a draw out of this.

No.
He isn't a player you'd really sign on Football Manager. Start on the Championship and he won't come and he probably won't come until Newcastle are in Europe. By then there's better, cheaper alternatives. He'd cost around £17m, I'd much rather get Skjelbred or Vukcevic.
