Davis is beating Higgins 9-7 and the first to 12 wins.
Steve "Interesting" Davis is a legend for some of us older guys and I've not posted this on the "Famous" thread but he was once married to some fuck off mega distant beyond Jupiter relation of mine.

Didn't see him against Higgins but saw quite a bit of his first round match against Mark King. His long potting was pretty good but he still missed a few chances to make frame-winning breaks, probably because of nerves. Still, nice to see the old fella going on a run.
Looking forward to O'Sullivan-Williams tonight, though it's more O'Sullivan I'm looking forward to watching. Mark Williams seems like a nice guy but his matches always seem to be turgid, scrappy affairs. To be honest that's one way of beating O'Sullivan, get him frustrated.

So it's 8-8 O'Sullivan-Williams after that session of play and as far as I can work out, they'll come back tomorrow morning. Williams was 7-5 and 8-6 ahead but Ronnie clawed it back. A classic positional shot in frame 16 to open up the last two reds. This is developing into a classic match.

And I was wrong about Williams, he seems to be on good form so is putting together some decent breaks.

Figures.
Awesome match between O'Sullivan and Williams, I had it on in the office before some students came and asked me for help. Williams played very well but Ronnie was on superb form, constructing some frame-winning breaks from apparently impossible positions. I can't wait for his third round match, looks like it will be Mark Selby who is also on great form.

Well, dunno how O'Sullivan is level in that match after the first session. He looked like he just wanted to lamp someone and march out of the room. Missed loads of shots, cueing was poor, hardly made any breaks and seemed to really resent being there... but went in at 4-4. Selby's missed a trick - he had a real chance to turn the screw there, O'Sullivan wouldn't have reacted well if he'd lost a few frames. I'd be surprised if Selby got the same number of chances in the next session.

Probably the most exciting, entertaining snooker player at the minute (and of the last decade)... considered by most to be the most naturally gifted player for yonks* but you don't like him. It's kind of typical of the ol' elevenerifing, really

I'd say he's probably the most naturally gifted player ever. He's smarmy and arrogant though and that's why I don't like him.
Also, even though elevenerife is a load of balls, I fail to see how it could apply here.

He's really not, though. If he were arrogant he'd win everything, but it's the fact he lacks confidence so often and fails to settle in matches that is his biggest problem. Hardly a sign of overwhelming arrogance.
When he's on his game, he's good, but it's so haphazard it's unreal. He takes on some ludicrous pots as well, not because of arrogance, but because he tries to entertain.
C. Ronaldo was arrogant and as a result usually top drawer. I don't think Ronnie is like that.

Both Higgins and his agent are fucked after this, a lengthy ban awaits both of them and their standing in the game will be zero. The explosion of gambling within the game should be addressed as well. Gambling and sport will always give opportunities to players making a fast buck (or in this case a bucketload).
Of course, both are denying the allegations saying that they thought they were dealing with the Russian mafia and went along with it for their own safety. If that is the case, they should have immediately been in contact with Barry Hearn to tell him what had happened.

I'm just wondering here, Guys, why would the NOTW go to all the bother and expense of targetting Higgins and his agent? The NOTW must hear all kinds of allegations made against sports people, maybe they got a tip off from someone in the game or in the know about Higgings possibly being up for a bribe?

Anyway, getting back to better things, Robertson's just missed an "easy" red while 44-9 up in the 13th frame, Dott looks like he'll clear up now to make it 7-6
