1986 - My first recollection of a World Cup - Collecting magnetic plastic balls with the England players faces printed on them, they were 10p each from the corner shop, my first World Cup sticker collection (Need two more for this years

) loving the fact Beardsley was from the Toon yet was on the telly during the World Cup Finals, not being able to understand Maradona's first goal (still happens to this day) and wishing either Reid, Butcher or Fenwick had sliced him down for a yellow earlier in the run in for the second.
1990 - My Dad's Italian mate who was over on holiday laughing at me getting wrong for swearing when Gazza got booked and cried, me crying when we got knocked out telling me Mam, it's not fair, Newcastle and England have both lost now!

, me and me brother practising the David Platt goal for hours then him getting a goal in a proper game after I chipped it in like we practised (we had the cunning code 'DP', thank God kids don't shout that now

)
1994 - Diana Ross' Waddle-esque pen, Ray Houghton's goal versus Italy as mentioned in previous posts, Escobar getting shot.

Holland seeming unbeatable for a while, on a Scout camp hike we went through Mickley near Prudhoe and they had the game on in the local CIU club but the window was about eight feet high so me brother made me stand against the wall while he stood on my shoulders watching and giving a running commentary until we were told to fuck off by the 'friendly' locals.
2002 - Getting up to watch games in the Three Mile before work on Gossy High street, being impressed by the Koreans and their seemingly endless stamina and fitness, Turkey did well too I think and I bought Hasan Sas on every Pro Evo league I did since for years afterwards.
Hope its a good one!
1998 - Riots in Marseille, it being scorchingly hot so having BBQs and being mortal for most of it, still being gutted about the Cup final, going to Magalluf afterwards
