Absolutely!
Just because it isn't physical activity that's being tested doesn't mean it's not a sport.
Here we have a contest at the highest level of human capability where almost super-human skills are required to succeed.
A match like this is draining mentally, psychologically, emotionally and yes, physically.
Such is the stress, one player reckoned that a World Championship Match takes two years off one's life!
