Now if you want to watch Jeff Stelling, you'll have to be on Sky or Virgin media, no more of him on Freeview. Sky are doing this in an attempt to improve their subscription numbers.

Apparently they're doing the same regarding Sky News as well and the switch-off is rumoured to happen in July

Surely there will be another channel start up in their place. Personally, I've been very disappoined for a long time now that there is no BBC Sports channel given the amount I pay in licence fees. A sports news channel would be a good start IMO.

Yeah that would be handy. There's no doubt good stuff on the BBC, but I pay a lot of money for licence fees when there is very little on the BBC (or telly in general) that I regularly watch. The whole no adverts thing does come at a cost after all.

BBC don't buy enough sport rights to do a 24/7 sports news channel.

Okay then.

"Do they?" is a fucking stupid question in answer to a question.

FOOTY:
Their PL rights are limited due to the deal they have with Sky.

Football League is wank.

Carling Cup gets interesting at the last 4.

SPL is shit.

World Cup happens every 4 years.

RUGBY:

Minority egg chasers sport that cannot get common rules.

TENNIS:

Tremendous Wimbledon coverage.

I'll comment on the others later because I'm watching the match.

Would'nt stop them showing match highlights on a sports news channel like they already do on MOTD

I think their deal is limited to duration of the show, repeats, etc.
