Apart from the obvious reason of playing the big teams again, I'm looking forward to being able to watch a full hours worth of highlights.
On top of that, we no longer have to put up with that clown Maniche, Steve Claridge or that daft tart that kept popping her head out of the back room to read some stupid fucking emails....and believe me they were stupid!
Wot are you all looking forward to most?

Getting to see every home game as I have now moved back to the north-east.

I quite like that Maniche but definitely looking forward to more than 2 seconds of highlights although saying that you only get decent length highlights on MOTD if you are playing one of the top 4 in which case you usually dont want to see extended highlights as you are getting spanked!!
Looking forward to hopefully seeing the ground just about full again - the attendances were pretty good last year considering but nothing like a good big game with the ground filled to the rafters.

Maniche is a good presenter I think, but I like the fact our highlights will be on MOTD (and also MOTD2 for the Sunday games), so we won't have to wait until 11.30pm or whenever it was to watch the 30 seconds of Newcastle highlights.
That said, it worked out quite well for me this year, and no doubt many other Newcastle fans. We were quite often the first team on the Football League Show, so we could turn it on to watch our team win and then turn it off right afterwards. Not like I really cared about any other teams in the Football League after all.

As for the rest, I just want to see better football than we saw last season, especially from us. And one hope: that the eternal moaners and whingers just save their money and stay away from the ground.

It just seemed slightly contradictory that you were asking for better football than that which yielded us 102 points last season yet you dont like people moaning.
Of course id love to see more fast flowing attacking football but id be more than happy to watch the organised, compact, efficient football we saw last season if it produces the 40 odd points necessary to stay up

In addition, there are a few players that did well last season and it will be interesting to see if they can continue it having stepped up a level, particularly Carroll, Jonas, Collocini, Williamson, Jose and Nolan.

Whilst im not saying for one minute we should be pushing for Europe and ill be quite content if we can stay up as comfortably as possible I hope the management and players dont go into the season just simply looking to stay up - that could be dangerous.
For me every club should go into the season trying to win the league - ie you try and win all 38 games. Its never going to happen but if you go into each game with a positive attitude then in the shake up at the end you should do ok.
I dont like managers that pretty much pick and choose the games that they think they can get points from and stick out the reserves in tougher games like Wolves did at Man U last season. Dont get me wrong I think they are well within their rights to do it if they want and im sure Big Mick will feel vindicated with them staying up but I like to see my team trying to win every single game.

Oh I agree with you there. I don't see why we should be aiming for just 17th. I'd say it's more unhelpful that way if anything. The squad is capable of doing much better than that and will do in my opinion. We are capable of winning every match as much as that won't happen, and should be looking to win all our home games in particular. It's not overly optimistic by any stretch of the imagination to presume a mid-table finish is realistic and to therefore aspire towards it.

The club's position, aside from them being an item not permitted according to ground regulations, is that the vast majority of fans do not wish them to be heard within the ground. Sing your hearts out for the lads!

Couldn't agree more. End of the day, football is a game, and the aim of it is to win as much as possible, not whatever will be adequate. I'd be disappointed (but relieved) if we finished like, 17th on goal difference or by a couple of points this season. As much as survival is paramount, we should be more than good enough to stay up with at least some comfort.
