Absolutely brilliant performance, played them off the park who would of thought!
Williamson and Colo rock solid, Perch had an easy afternoon and jury is still out, but was none-the-less very good, Jose was never going to be touched by Albrighton or Downing.
The entire midfield 4 were superb, Routledge in particular i thought was outstanding, Nolan was slow at times early on, but scored 2 and in general was good, Carroll absolutely destroyed Clarke and Dunne, just WOW
Harper worst player on the park, terrible penalty concession and some terrible kicking early on, but all is forgiven, clean sheet and i've jizzed in my pants!
We play like that every week and we will be 100% fine

Brilliant performance. I'm absolutely gobsmacked!
Carroll will definitely get an England call-up , he could do no wrong today. This is the second game in a row he's won absolutely everything in the air against class centre-backs like Vidic & Dunne.
I think we're going to be a real physical and aerial threat this season and if we play like this consistently, safe mid-table should not be too much to ask for.
Carroll, Enrique, Williamson, Colo, Barton & Routledge were brilliant!
Jonas again did a fair bit of running with no end product,
Perch wasn't really tested.
Fair play to Xisco as well to get the assist right at the end. He looked chuffed to bits when the goal was scored!
Well played lads!!! 6-0 against a decent Villa side is no joke but we still deserved it !!
Up the Toon!!!

Barton completely bossed the match in my opinion. Was fantastic.
Carroll is going to be one hell of a player as well.
Nolan got better as the game went on/Villa got tired, with some good touches and interplay with Carroll. BUT still far too slow.

I thought Jonas and Jose together were brilliant
Williamson was fantastic as well
Barton didn't put a foot wrong
Until Carroll got his third would have been tricky to choose a MOTM

I couldn't agree more. I'd love to have an option of having someone with a good left foot on the left wing to whip in crosses.
At times I feel Jonas is pretty one-dimensional

That was absolutly outstanding today, I'm still finding it hard to believe. I was so pleased for Carroll to get his hattrick and I look forward to reading Martin Samuels apology tomorrow.
Arsenals & Chelsea's 6-0's came againt relegation cannon fodder, we are a newly promoted team facing a team that finished 6th last season, I'd say this is our best result since beating Man Utd 5-0 all those years ago.
ps: chin up Whitley, I'm sure we might do better at some point in the season, it can't always be this bad!!

Joey Barton was just on Stan Collymore's show on TalkSport. Spoke very openly about the club and how all the newspaper articles that are slating the club are put on the wall in the players lounge. He said that he read the papers today with them saying the battle today is between Barton and Petrov and that Petrov would win, which spurred Barton on and he said he put a challenge on him which he got booked for and he went missing for the rest of the game. He was also saying how the team spirit is great and they all love each other. Got a bit soppy and thanked Stan Collymore for being the only person in the media for supporting him during his troubles.

Am I the only one who thinks Young took a dive for the penalty, when it showed the replay it looked like Young was already throwing himself to the ground before Harper touched him. Not that it matters now but had that been converted how different our day would have been.

Get what? That all of our players aren't Championship standard players. They may not be up to Man Utd and Chelsea's standards but we have decent enough players to stay up. People have been slating Carroll, Nolan, Barton, Routledge, Colo, Williamson, et al. before they even kicked off this season.

Just because one or two posters go overboard doesn't exactly make it a universal opinion. We
are a pretty average team. We have some decent players and some pretty poor ones. We lack strength in depth and despite what happened today, we have serious weaknesses in crucial areas of the team. This season will be tricky. A few injuries and it could be very tricky indeed. A hammering by Man U and a hammering of Villa doesn't change that.
